Ashes 2023: Steve Smith reached new milestone

Ashes 2023: Australia and England are playing the second test match of the Ashes 2023 series at Lord’s Cricket Ground, London. On Day 1 of this test match, Former Australian Captain Steve Smith Completed 9000 runs and became the second-fastest batter to reach this milestone in Test Cricket.

After Achieving this milestone, Steve Smith becomes the fourth Australian batter to complete 9000 runs in test cricket. Currently, Kumar Sangakkara holds the record of completing the fastest 9000 runs in test cricket, Sangakkara has reached this milestone in 172 innings, whereas Steve Smith has reached this milestone in 174 innings.

Steve Smith has achieved this milestone in the second test match against England. In the Second Test match, England won the toss, and they decided to bowl first as there were overcast conditions, and the pitch had a grass layer, which may help seamers to get an advantage from the pitch, and hence they could get a couple of wickets.

Australia has started well as Their openers, David Warner and Usman Khawaja, made a decent partnership of 73 runs for the 1st wicket, but in the 24th over, Last Match Hero, Usman Khawaja got bowled out by Josh’s Tongue then David Warner got bowled by Josh’s tongue in 30th over.

After Both the Openers got out, Australia’s Two main Test Players, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith have shown good class and temperament, especially Steve Smith, who was getting targeted by English Bowlers, but he played well. Labuschagne and Smith made 100 runs for the third wicket, leading Australia to a good position.

Marnus Labuschange scored 47 runs in 93 balls and got out by Ollie Robinson in the 55th over of the first inning. Steve Smith is still playing, and he was looking in good touch till the 58th over; he scored 45 runs in 92 balls, whereas Travis Head looks in an aggressive mood and scored ten runs in 14 balls with a strike rate of 71.

England hasn’t taken advantage of the overcast conditions as they took only three wickets till the 58th over, and Australia has made 211 runs on the scoreboard which shows they are dominating the game. Josh Tongue has taken two wickets, whereas Ollie Robinson has taken only one wicket till now.
