Ajit Agarkar appointed as the new BCCI chief selector

Ajit Agarkar, appointed as the new BCCI chief selector of the Indian Men’s Cricket Team, replaces Chetan Sharma: On July 4th, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appointed former Indian All-Rounder Ajit Agarkar as the new chief selector of the Indian men’s cricket team.

Agarkar replaces Chetan Sharma, who stepped down from his position in February after the sting operation carried out by TV Channels on him. Ajit Agarkar has played 191 ODIs and 26 Tests for Indian Team and was a front-runner in the race for Chief Selector.

As a selector, Agarkar has as such no experience, but he has a lot of knowledge about Cricket. After Being Chief Selector, Ajit Agarkar said, “I am honored to be appointed as the chief selector of the Men’s Cricket team.”

Agarkar’s appointment as Chief Selector seems like a positive move by the BCCI, and Experts are happy to see him in such a valuable post for the Indian Cricket team. He is known for his silent and calm nature, which will bring a fresh perspective to the selection process. Agarkar is someone who can build a strong relationship with the players.

Ajit Agarkar Duties after being Chief Selector:

As Ajit Agarkar becomes the Chief Selector, his first duty will be to announce the Team India squad for the five matches T20I series against West Indies. The Squad for the Test and ODI series was already announced by the BCCI last month.

Currently, Indian Cricket is transitioning, as many youngsters are getting opportunities in T20 internationals, whereas ODI and Test are still untouched. The Transition in T20I cricket is necessary as India will be playing the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA next year.

Agarkar has taken 349 wickets in his International career; he has done a lot for the Indian team. Ajit Agarkar was also part of Delhi Capitals in the Past with Ricky Ponting.

The Indian Team is currently at the top position in ODI cricket, but they have struggled in T20I cricket for the last few years, whereas India has done well in Test Cricket. Agarkar is a talented cricketer, and He has the potential to be a successful chief selector and will help the Indian team to dominate in world cricket.
