Ahmedabad IPL Team Players, Coach, Squad, Owner Details, Price Complete Details: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on 25th October 2021 revealed the two new incoming teams of the elite Indian Premier League (IPL). Lucknow and Ahmedabad were the winning cities following the two highest bids from their respective owners.

Ahmedabad Draf IPL Team Players (confirmed): Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan, Shubman Gill

Ahmedabad IPL Team Owner Details and Price:

The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise based in Ahmedabad city is won by CVC Capitals Partners by shelling out a mammoth sum of INR 5625 Crores. They were the second-highest bidder after RPSG Goenka Group and hence got the ownership of the franchise.

Who is CVC Capital?

The Irelia Company Pte Ltd. (CVC Capital Partners) is one of the prominent equity investment firms based in Luxembourg. The company aims in investing in global sports and have invested in a number of sports including football, Formula One, and rugby. Their latest addition is the sport of cricket as they bagged the ownership of the Ahmedabad based IPL franchise.

The reports say that CVC Capitals in the past tried to form a strong business model with Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals, however, the talks didn’t turn out to be productive and hence failed to enter the Indian Premier League (IPL) market.

“They’ve been phenomenal the way they’ve gone about with their sports businesses. This is a huge shot in the arm for the IPL and league has well and truly arrived on a global stage now,” says BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal was quoted as saying by TOI.

Ahmedabad IPL team coach:

Head Coach- Ashish Nehra

The Ahmedabad based new IPL team has roped in former Indian pacer Ashish Nehra as team head coach. Nehra would be overall in charge of the squad.

The former team India pacer was earlier approached by several IPL franchises for the role of bowling coach and mentor, however, he denied all the deals as he always wanted to build a team from scratch.

Now, in the IPL 2022, Ashish Nehra has been appointed head coach of the Ahmedabad based IPL team and he will be responsible for the team building in the mega auction. Moreover, he will also be involved in strategy building and team composition.

Ashish Nehra, 42, was earlier part of the coaching group in Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) back in 2019. For the last two seasons, the pacer has refrained from taking just a coaching role.

Mentor – Gary Kirsten

Former South African cricketer, Gary Kirsten has been appointed Ahmedabad’s mentor for the Tata IPL 2022.

Earlier a few speculations were made on Kirsten being roped in as the head coach, however, all the claims were falsified as Ahmedabad announced the coaching staff.

It must be noted that Ashish Nehra and Gary Kirsten have long-standing fruitful working relations. Both the aforementioned were part of the RCB coaching group together.

Further, Ashish Nehra was the part of Indian group that won the ICC ODI World Cup 2011 under Gary Kirsten’s coaching stint.

Director of Cricket – Vikram Solanki

The CVC Capitals owned Ahmedabad has also signed former England batsman Vikram Solanki as the Director of Cricket operations.

Ashish Nehra also shared a great camaraderie with Vikram Solanki, who previously has worked as the coach in the IPL.

Hardik Pandya: (Confirmed 15 Crore for Caption position)

Following the completion of the major support staff, Ahmedabad roped in Baroda all-rounder Hardik Pandya as the captain of the side for a massive INR 15 Crores.

Though several experts have appreciated Ahmedabad’s surprise move to rope in Hardik Pandya, some have expressed their concerns as there are recurring fitness issues with the all-rounder.

The all-rounder has been released by Mumbai Indians (MI) due to his poor show in the last two IPL seasons.

Though Hardik’s form in the recent past doesn’t give immense encouragement to any franchise, however, his abilities speak volumes of his cricket and thus he is on the list. 

The all-rounder is extensively working in regaining the fitness that has troubled him a lot in the past three years. He is likely to get back in good shape before the next IPL season. He is also working on his bowling that is an area of concern.

He can be a lethal cricketer at the death overs, he can provide crucial breakthroughs and can even be a troublemaker for the opposition with his lightning fielding. 

Rashid Khan: (Confirmed for INR 15 Crores)

Ace tweaker Rashid Khan is also signed by Ahmedabad for a sum equivalent to Hardik Pandya. Khan will fetch a whopping INR 15 Crores for his services in the IPL 2022.

Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan was in the limelight after he was released by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) ahead of the IPL 2022. Khan wanted to be retained as SRH’s first choice player, while SRH wanted Kane Williamson to get that honour which led to the fallout between Rashid Khan and SRH.

Shubman Gill: (Confirmed for INR 7 Crores)

Former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batsman Shubman Gill has been named as Ahmedabad’s third draft pick choice. Gill has been acquired by shelling out INR 7 Crores.

It must be noted that Ahmedabad badly wanted young wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan to be the third draft pick, however, the southpaw choose to go to the auction table.

Gill is all set to kickstart his journey with a brand new IPL team, Ahmedabad. He was the integral part of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the last four years. He was bagged by shelling out INR 1.8 Crores during IPL 2018 mini-aution.

The opener batsman has scored 1417 runs in 58 IPL appearances at an fine average of 31.48 and with a strike rate of 123.
