Afghanistan announces Squad for the ODI series Against Sri Lanka ahead of World Cup 2023: Afghanistan Cricket Board announced the Squad for the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka in Hambantota from 2nd June to 7th June.?
On 15th May, the Afghanistan Cricket Board announced the Squad of 15 members for the ODI series against Sri Lanka next month. Both teams are looking to build their perfect Squad for the upcoming World Cup 2023. Afghanistan added some new faces to their Squad for the ODI series.
The star player of AFG, Rashid Khan will not lead the team due to the IPL workload. AFG secured their spot for the World Cup 2023 after the completion of ICC ODI World Cup 2023 Super League, they finished at 7th position in the points table.
Fast bowler Abdul Rahman has been called for the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Gulbadain Naib, Shahidullah Kamal, Yamin Ahmadzai and Zia-ur-Rahman Akbar are not a part of the 15 members squad, they are added as reserved player in the squad for the ODI series.
Left Handed batter, Hashmatullah Shahidi will lead the Afghanistan team for the ODI series against Sri Lanka, whereas Rahmat Shah has been chosen as vice-captain.?Sri Lanka have not announced their Squad yet for the home series against AFG.
The Sri Lankan board announced the ODI series against Afghanistan to boost their preparation for the World Cup Qualifiers 2023 from 18th June in Zimbabwe.
ICC recently released the list of teams who secured their spot for the World Cup in, which Sri Lanka failed to secure their spot for the World Cup. Now they will fight in the World Cup 2023 Qualifier against teams like West Indies, Ireland, Netherlands and host nation Zimbabwe.
