IPL 2022: 3 Players Punjab Kings (PBKS) might retain in the upcoming IPL 2022 Mega Auction.

IPL 2022: Despite having multiple big match winners on the side, Punjab Kings (PBKS) once again failed to produce a good start. Out of the eight games played by Punjab Kings in Vivo IPL 2021, they could only manage to win three.

The lack of solid Indian middle order, the KL Rahul-led franchise has failed to capitalise on the good starts given by openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal.

It will be the high time for PBKS to change their IPL tactics and acquire a couple of solid Indian Players to maintain a much needed balance in the squad. Here we will take a look at three most probable retention players for the Punjab Kings (PBKS).

3 Players Punjab Kings (PBKS) might retain in the upcoming IPL 2022 Mega Auction:

KL Rahul:

The skipper of the team, KL Rahul has done reasonably well for Punjab Kings. For this name, PBKS will be happy as he is consistently scoring runs and winning games. In fact, most of the runs for Punjab are scored by Rahul.

With the added captaincy role to his shoulders, KL Rahul has improved a lot. He knows how to soak pressure while chasing a mammoth total and to anchor the innings to lead his team.

In the last three years, we have seen many classical knocks of KL Rahul. He has been amongst the runs and always on the leading run getters list. There will be no surprises that the franchise would love to retain him as the first choice retention.

Mohammad Shami:

The senior Indian pacer is someone who has delivered a lot to the franchise when it’s needed the most. He bowls crucial overs and keeps the batsman quiet with his hard length. Over the last couple of years, Shami has taken his game to another level.

In the Vivo IPL 2021, Shami scalped 8 wickets in eight games for Punjab. Moreover, his economy is 8.14 which is termed as good especially when you are bowling the tough overs when batsman comes hard at you.

Chris Gayle:

It will be interesting to watch if the franchise opts to retain the ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle in the upcoming IPL 2022 Mega Auction considering his age. Although he is 41-years old, he can very well take on the bowlers with his sheer power.

He comes at number three for PBKS and is quite handy there to support KL Rahul after the early wicket. He keeps the scoreboard ticking which reduces the pressure from other batter.
