A shocking incident happened during the ongoing series between India and the West Indies. Young Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal was targeted by West Indies pacer Jayden Seales with a dangerous throw. The International Cricket Council (ICC) condemned such an act and penalized the player for breaching the code of conduct.

The India National Cricket Team and the West Indies Cricket Team are playing the second and last test match at Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in New Delhi. India played exceptional cricket against West Indies, they scored 518 in their first inning and then all out West Indies at 248 runs and gave them follow-on, but in this inning, they made 173 runs with loss of only two wickets.

What Happened on Day 1?

During the 29th over of India’s first inning, Jayden Seales fielded the ball of his own bowling and threw it back towards Jaiswal, and the ball hit him on the pads. While Jaiswal was playing phenomenal cricket, the throw was deemed aggressive and unnecessary by on-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Paul Rieffel.

Jayden Seales was charged with breach of the ICC Code of Conduct under Article 2.9, which forbids “throwing a ball or any cricket equipment at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner” in an international game.

Despite Seales’s claim that his intent was not to hurt someone, but he was trying to make a run-out attempt, however, match referee Andy Pycroft reviewed replays from several angles and concluded the throw was “unnecessary and inappropriate”.

The ICC fines Seales 25% of his match fee and gives him one demerit point under the Level 1 breach penalty. This is the second incident from Jayden Seales in the last 24 months; the previous similar kind incident was against Bangladesh in a test match.

India vs West Indies 2nd Test Highlights:

The Indian team is playing exceptional cricket, and they are expected to win this series 2-0 as they are playing dominating cricket against the West Indies. The Indian batter made 518 runs in their first inning with the loss of 5 wickets. Yashavsi Jaiswal and skipper Shubman Gill played superb knocks of 175 and 129 runs, respectively.

However, the West Indies were able to make only 248 runs in their first inning. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja shook the whole batting lineup of the West Indies and put them under pressure from the first ball of the match.

After such a collapse, the West Indies got a follow-on, and they played well in this inning. John Campbell played responsibly and good cricket against India’s strong bowling lineup. He made 89* (145) and will be looking to convert it into a century.

Shai Hope also played well and scored 66* (103); both batters made a 138-run partnership for the third wicket. However, they still trail by 97 runs, and the Indian team has one more innings, so the match is expected to come in favor of India on Day 3 itself.
