The Indian Cricket Team enjoyed their time in the T20I format. They played the majority of their games in this format and had a great preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka in February-March next year.

India didn’t lose a single T20I series this year, beating the likes of England, Australia and South Africa. On top of that, they also won the Asia Cup 2025 without losing a single match in the tournament, beating Pakistan thrice in the event in Dubai.

India also announced their squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. One of the major talking points was Shubman Gill getting dropped from the side despite being the vice-captain. Apart from him, several other players contributed as well and in this piece, we take a look at them:

Most T20I runs for India in 2025

Abhishek Sharma was the leading run-getter for Indian in T20Is in 2025. He slammed 859 at an average of over 42 and a strike rate of over 193. He also ended the year as the number-one-ranked ICC T20 batter.

He is followed by Tilak Varma, who slammed 567 runs in T20Is in 2025. He also hammered four half-centuries and his best knock was in the final of the Asia Cup 2025, where he scored 69 runs to help India win.

Hardik Pandya features third on the list with 302 runs to his name. He played several impactful knocks as well. Despite not having a great time in the ODIs, Shubman Gill ended as the fourth-highest run-getter in T20Is for India in 2025. He hit 291 runs in 15 innings.

Sanju Samson is last on the list with 222 runs to his name. He didn’t get much opportunity this year, but was a handful in the games he played.
