WTC Final Hopes Fading of India - These Two Tough Overseas Tours and Australia Series Make India's Road Ahead Bleak

The Indian team suffered a crushing 0-2 defeat in the two-match home Test series against South Africa. India has lost four Tests so far in the current WTC cycle and has slipped to fifth place in the points-table.

To remain in contention for the final, India must win at least seven of these nine matches. The Indian team will play two Test matches on Sri Lankan soil in August. Scary statistics against New Zealand, Australia is no less

India's Test record in New Zealand is not exactly perfect. The Indian team last won a Test series against New Zealand on their home soil in 2009. Since then, Team India has struggled continuously. The Indian team has played 25 Test matches against New Zealand on their home soil, winning five of them. The Kiwis won 10 matches and 10 ended in draws.

India will also face a tough test against Australia at home. The five-match Test series, part of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, will determine India's future in the WTC 2025-27. Australia hasn't won a Test series in India since 2004. However, the last two series the Kangaroos played here were closely contested.

India won the last two home series against Australia by 2-1 margins. Given the Indian team's current performance at home, this series will be far from easy. Given the way New Zealand and South Africa won Test series in India, the Australian team will be eagerly anticipating this series.

India has played 54 Test matches against Australia at home, winning 23 of them. They also lost 14 of them, with 16 matches ending in draws and one tie. India has had the upper hand over Australia at home, but has failed to completely dominate.
