WTC Final 2023

After two years of spectacular cricket, India Cricket Team has managed to reach the final of the World Test Championship. They played a sensational brand of Test cricket over the last couple of years and the hard work of that has paid off. They will now face Australia in the main event at The Oval, England from 7th to the 11th June.

This is the second consecutive time India has qualified for the final of the WTC 2023. They lost to New Zealand first time and this time around it’ll be an extremely crucial game for them as they haven’t won any ICC trophy since 2013. They have faced a lot of criticism for that and many are backing them to change their fortunes and bring the trophy home this time around.

The absence of Rishabh Pant has left a massive void in the Indian Test team. The keeper batter met with an accident in December last year and has been ruled out of cricketing action for around 8-9 months.

Rishabh’s absence was quite evident in the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. In his place, KS Bharat got the opportunity but it’s fair to say that the right-hander didn’t fill up the shoes as he looked ordinary with the bat and also dropped a few catches as well with the gloves.

Pant on the other hand has been India’s best batter ever since he came in the Test set-up. The keeper batter has consistently scored runs for India down the order and has bailed them out of the trouble, scorning centuries in India, England, Australia and South Africa

Pant is set to miss the WTC final 2023 and there have been a lot of speculations about that spot in the team. India tried Bharat but it doesn’t seem that he will look comfortable against the moving ball in England. Therefore the team is left with Ishan Kishan or they can ask KL Rahul to keep wickets.

With all the mess around wicket-keeper role’s in the team for the WTC Final 2023, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has come up with a suggestion. Speaking to Sports Tak, he said that the team should ask Rahul to keep wickets and bat in the middle, which will help him regain his form as well.

Rahul is currently out of form and was dropped from the team for the 3rd and the 4th Test against Australia. But he has been India’s best batter in overseas conditions as he struck centuries in England and South Africa.

The dominance of the Indian Cricket Team at the home just extended as they thumped Australia by 2-1 and retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the 4th consecutive time. The hosts were on the top of their game in the first two games as they thumped the opposition by innings and 132 runs and 6 wickets respectively.

Australia then made a sensational comeback as they crushed India by 9 wickets in Indore. The last Test of the series ended in a draw as both sides batted brilliantly and the game went down to the last day.
