WPL 2026: RCB becomes FIRST team to qualify for the playoffs, register emphatic win in GG vs RCB clash
It’s five in five for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the WPL 2026 as they beat Gujarat Giants (GG) by 61 runs in match 12th of the tournament. The second leg of the ongoing season kicked off on Monday at BCA Stadium, Kotambi in Vadodara, and the same form continued for Bengaluru, who became the first team to qualify for the playoffs. Put into bat, they piled up 178 for six, and then restricted Gujarat to 117 for eight.
RCB had struggled to have a good start with Grace Harris and Georgia Voll were back in the hut inside the first two overs. Captain Smriti Mandhana (26) tried to get going and resurrect the innings, but her efforts weren’t enough. With the team under pressure, Gautami Naik (73) oozed her class and took matters into her own hands.
Naik hit a sensational half-century under pressure and brought his team back in the game. Richa Ghosh (27) played a valiant hand as well, adding 69 runs with the fourth wicket. In the end, Radha Yadav chipped in with 17 as Bengaluru posted a total of 178 for six.
GG vs RCB: Ashleigh Gardner's fifty goes in vain as RCB registers fifth consecutive win in WPL 2026
RCB new-bal bowlers in Lauren Bell and Sayali Satghare were yet again in the spotlight as they gave a terrible time to Gujarat top-order, leaving them at five for three. Soon after that, Nadine de Klerk and Radha Yadav chipped in as well, and trouble kept mounting for Gujarat.
Captain Ashleigh Gardner (54) was the lone warrior for her team as she hit a solid half-century to keep her team in the hunt. However, her wicket was the final nail in the coffin for Gujarat, who eventually managed 117 for eight to lose the clash by 61 runs.
