Delhi Capitals faced their second successive loss in WPL 2026 as after losing to Mumbai Indians, they now lost to Gujarat Giants by seven wickets at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.

Gujarat Giants had a solid start with the bat, courtesy of Sophie Devine (95). She took the charge, while Beth Mooney (19) played as a second fiddle as the duo added an opening stand of 94 runs inside nine overs. 

Soon, after that, both openers lost their wickets and captain Ashleigh Gardner (49) took the charge and carried on the momentum. She batted till the 18th over and a lower-order contribution took them to 209 for ten in 20 overs. For Delhi, Nandani Sharma picked a hat-trick and ended with a fifer.

In the chase, although, Delhi lost Shafali Verma for 14, it was Lizelle Lee (86), who took her team off to a flying start. She slammed bowlers all over the park and was equally supported by Laura Wolvaardt (77). 

The Lee-Wolvaardt pair added 90 runs for the second wicket, which put Gujarat under massive pressure. However, Delhi couldn’t carry on the momentum as they lost Lee and Chinelle Henry in a quick span of time. Despite wickets falling, Wolvaardt hit a blistering half-century and kept her team in the hunt. 

She took the match to last over with Delhi needing seven. However, Sophie Devine held her nerves and picked two wickets to help her team snatch victory from the jaws of defeat.

After WPL 2026  match 4, GG vs DC, the Gujarat Giants are in the top spot followed by the Mumbai Indians. Royal Challengers Bengaluru are at third followed by UP Warriorz and Delhi Capitals, who are yet to register a win.
