DC vs UPW: Delhi Capitals FINALLY register their first win in WPL 2026; beat UP Warriorz on last ball of match, check highlights
After two heartbreaking defeats, the Delhi Capitals finally made a comeback in the WPL 2026. They defeated UP Warriorz by seven wickets in the seventh game of the tournament, which took place at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.
UP had a worst possible start to their innings as opening batter Kiran Navgire bagged a three-ball duck. However, captain Meg Lanning (54) took the responsibility and slammed a vital half-century.
Phoebe Litchfield (27) supported her well but the defining partnership of the innings came between Lanning and Harleen Deol (47).
The Lanning-Deol duo added 85 runs for the third wicket as UP looked all set for a big total. However, Delhi made a fabulous comeback after that and picked wickets in a flash. UP retiring out Deol didn’t help them as well as the Lanning-led side managed just 154 for eight.
In the chase, Delhi openers Lizelle Lee (67) and Shafali Verma (36) came out all guns blazing, adding 94 runs inside 12 overs. Lee, in particular looked brutal and slammed her second half-century to put the team in a dominating position.
Laura Wolvaardt (25*) and Jemimah Rodrigues (21:14b, 3x4) played their part with handy knocks. Although, UP kept things tight at the end, taking the match to the last ball, Delhi held their nerves and won the game by seven wickets.
