WPL 2026 Dates Out! Season To Start on January 7 - DY Patil Stadium to Host Opener

As per the latest Cricbuzz report, the Board of Control for Cricket (BCCI) has finalized the dates and venues of Women's Premier League (WPL) 2026. This is going to be the fourth edition of WPL, but this time the tournament has been preponed to avoid a clash with the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which is scheduled for February-March.

BCCI has decided to host the tournament in the January-February slot so the tournament doesn’t overlap with other global leagues or international tours. A total of five teams will participate in the WPL 2026, and the Mumbai Indians are the defending champions after defeating the Delhi Capitals in WPL 2025.

As per the reports, the Women’s Premier League 2026 will begin on January 07, 2026, and the final is likely to be held on February 03, 2026. However, the WPL 2026 Mega Auction is scheduled on November 27, 2025, and UP Warriorz will go with the highest purse of Rs. 14.50 crore.

Mumbai and Baroda to Host WPL 2026:

​BBCI has chosen Mumbai and Bardoa as the two venues for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 season. Earlier, Lucknow and Bengaluru were shortlisted, but finally, Mumbai and Baroda are the final venues for the tournament.

The first half of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 will be held in Mumbai. The DY. Patil Stadium will be hosting the matches. This venue recently witnessed India Women’s historic World Cup win. The opening match of WPL 2026 will also be played at DY. Patil Stadium.

The second half of the Women’s Premier League 2026 will be played at Kotambi Stadium in Bardoda. It will be the first time Baroda will host WPL matches, so it’s going to be a huge moment for the cricket fans in Baroda.

WPL 2026 Auction:

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 mega auction will take place on November 27, 2025, in New Delhi. Among all the teams, UP Warriorz have the highest purse remaining as they retained only one player (Shweta Sehrawat). UP also has four Right-To-match (RTM) cards.
