Women’s ODI World Cup 2025: Unbeaten India Targets Top Spot ahead of redhot Showdown versus South Africa
The 2025 edition of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup gears up for a thrilling encounter as Harmanpreet Kaur's India is set to lock horns with Laura Wolvaardt's South Africa at Visakhapatnam's iconic ACA VDCA Cricket Stadium. The Women in Blue, currently sitting at the second position in the points-table with two victories to their name in two matches, will be looking to extend their unbeaten-streak in the tournament versus a South African team that bounced-back from a shameful 10-wicket loss to England with a win by six-wickets against Sophie Divine's New Zealand.

The Proteas women will be jubilant by the amazing form with the bat of Tazmin Brits, who slammed a match-winning ton versus the White Ferns and they will be hoping that their top-order batsmen, including skipper Laura Wolvaardt and highly experienced duo of Anneke Bosch & Marizanne Kapp, can replicate their success with the bat.
Team India's top-order batting unit, particularly vice-captain Smriti Mandhana, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur & number three batter Jemimah Rodrigues, will have to bring out their A Game, as the lack of runs from their bat has so far forced the Indian side to rely on contributions from the lower-order.
The bowling unit, led by Deepti Sharma, who is also the leading wicket taker in the tournament, having dismissed six batters so far, have performed on a consistent basis. With all-rounder Amanjor Kaur possibly making a return to the team after recovering from her sickness, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side will be looking to rotate the pack to take on the South African girls.
The bowling unit of South Africa, which includes seasoned players like Masabata Klaas, Ayabonga Khaka, and Nonku Mlaba, will be a serious threat to India's batting order. The least we can hope for when these two gifted teams play one other in Visakhapatnam is an exciting match.
