Sri Lanka dropped several catches, enabling India to recover. Near the end of the innings, Sneh Rana added a lively contribution that helped the team reach a commendable total of 269/8 in the allotted 47 overs (due to some rain delays).
In pursuit of 271 (DLS target), Athapaththu provided her team with a strong beginning. Her innings of 43 runs from 47 balls appeared intentional and well-executed. The most intriguing aspect of her performance was her aggressive approach towards Deepti Sharma right from the first ball. At first, her strategy seemed to unsettle the bowler, as her initial two overs allowed 23 runs. However, the captain continued to attack Deepti, who eventually justified the faith placed in her by dismissing the Sri Lankan captain. This wicket was followed by a stretch of 9 consecutive overs without any boundaries, which deflated the opposition's run chase.
Ultimately, Sri Lanka was all out for 211, falling significantly short of the target. Aside from their captain, only Nilakshi de Silva demonstrated any resolve. For India, every player contributed to the effort.
