New Zealand's batting began as poorly as possible. They lost both openers without a score on the board and took 24.3 overs to reach three figures. Nevertheless, the captain's aggressive century kept their hopes alive. These hopes flickered most brightly when she was joined by Izzy Gaze at the crease. The wicketkeeper's lively 28 off 18 balls surely caught the attention of the fans, but ultimately, the task was too great to overcome. Tight bowling spells from Annabel Sutherland and Sophie Molinuex, along with some enticing deliveries from Alana King and a few runouts, highlighted Australia’s bowling performance.

New Zealand reached the last position

The third match of the Women's ODI World Cup will be played on 2 October between the women's team of Bangladesh and Pakistan at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
