The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 could be the last season for the legendary captain MS Dhoni playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK). As IPL 2026 approaches, a debate among the CSK fans started around Dhoni’s IPL retirement. However, many cricket experts believe that IPL 2026 could be the end of his impressive IPL journey.

After the addition of Sanju Samson to the Chennai Super Kings in a trade with Rajasthan Royals (RR), things get quite clear that IPL 2026 might be the last season of MS Dhoni, as the management is looking for someone who can carry the legacy of CSK, and Sanju perfectly fits that role.

However, CSK traded two of their best all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran, for Sanju Samson, which is quite a big deal, and the management clearly has some big plans for Sanju Samson. Ravindra Jadeja has been the key face of the Chennai Super Kings, and dropping him from the squad was a very big step.

Irfan Pathan Predicts Possible Final Season

Irfan Pathan shared his thoughts during a discussion on JioHostar’s cricket show “Game Plan”, where he spoke about Dhoni’s future in the Chennai Super Kings and the importance of his role in the CSK’s dressing room.

According to Irfan Pathan, IPL 2026 might be the last chance for the CSK fans to watch Dhoni in the iconic yellow jersey of Chennai Super Kings. He said that it is difficult for the fans to imagine the IPL without Dhoni, but seeing his age and injury problems, MS Dhoni might take this decision.

However, Irfan also added that Dhoni work seriously on hit fitness and prepare for the tournamrn every year, and at this age, he stil sit and is committed for the game. Dhoni himself has said many times that he will continue to play for CSK till his body allows him to; the chances are high, but it’s all on his fitness.
