India vs New Zealand: As many as eleven people near Eden Garden’s Stadium Kolkata were detained by local police ahead of the start of the India vs New Zealand 3rd T20I match for allegedly re-selling the tickets illegally.
The West Bengal Police, soon after the incident, beefed up the security near the stadium to keep a check on such other activities before today’s final T20I match at the iconic Eden Gardens.
Around 2,000 police personals from Kolkata Police including RAFs and HRAFs were deployed. To add more, Anti-Rowdy Squad members were also stationed to take control of the situation and to prevent further malicious activities.
The ranks of Deputy Commissioner of Police and Assistant Commissioner of Police were also posted near the stadium.
As per the police reports, sixty match tickets were sold by these 11 people at much expensive rates.
“Officers in plain clothes are also at different places around Eden Gardens. We are not taking any chance and want to ensure that the sporting event takes place smoothly,” the Police officer said.
As of now, Rohit Sharma has won the toss and invited kiwis to bowl first. Interestingly Rohit won three out of three tosses in this series.
Team India made two changes in the side to give opportunities to the other lads in the side. Vice Captain KL Rahul has been rested for Ishan Kishan and senior off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will be replaced by seasoned leggie Yuzvendra Chahal, making his comeback into the shortest format side.
