Pakistan faltered in the beginning itself

After winning the toss and batting first, the Pakistan cricket team fell like a pack of cards in front of India's lethal bowling. Their skipper Salman Ali Agha had said at the time of toss that he wanted to score runs, but when his team came out to bat, the decision proved to be horrific as his side were on the backfoot from the very first ball. Seamer Hardik Pandya, who came to bowl the first over of the match, bowled the first ball wide. But, on the first valid ball, opening batter Saim Ayub got caught by Jasprit Bumrah inside the 30-yards circle. After this, the Indian bowlers wreaked havoc on the Pakistani batsmen. The second wicket was taken by Bumrah.

Surrendered in front of Indian trio

After this, the fear of Indian spinners was visible on Pakistani batsmen. Their batters were not able to understand the variations of Indian spinners. In front of the trio of Kuldeep Yadav (3-18), Varun Chakaravarthy (1-24) and Axar Patel (2-18), the Green Shirts managed to put up a score of mere 127 runs for 9 wickets in 20 overs. They would not have crossed the 100 run mark if Shaheen Afridi, who came to bat at number nine, hadn't played an unbeaten knock of 33 runs, hitting four sixes in 16 balls.

Apart from this, Sahibzada Farhan scored 40 runs in 44 balls. For India, Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets giving just 18 runs in four overs. Axar Patel took two wickets. Jasprit Bumrah also took 2 wickets. Varun Chakaravarthy and Hardik Pandya got one wicket each.
