Vivo IPL 2021: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday have decided to auction the two new teams for IPL 2022 in May. The Indian Premier League will be a ten teams affair from the next season i.e., IPL 2022.

Ahead of the IPL 2021 Auction, the BCCI and IPL GC have approved new two teams for the IPL. However their operation was halted due to time constraints.

The top officials of BCCI, including president Sourav Ganguly, secretory Jay Shah had a meeting on various policies for the upcoming IPL. The epicentre of the discussion was the auction of two new IPL teams which IPL GC approved earlier this year.

“The 10 team IPL will roll on from next year IPL and the bidding process and finalisation of the new franchises by the month of May this year,” senior BCCI Official told in the condition of anonymity.

“One the auction and finalisation of teams is done, they can carry out their operational work which takes considerable time.”

According to the reports from various news outlets, Ahmedabad is almost likely to get an IPL franchise while the second franchise is yet to be auctioned

India’s ODI squad to be released on Sunday – No Shaw and Padikkal

The senior BCCI official also told that the squad for the upcoming three ODIs will also be released on Sunday and none of the senior players has opted for rest.

“The team is expected to be announced tomorrow. Neither skipper Virat Kohli nor his deputy Rohit Sharma has opted to take a rest. There are not many surprises as we focus on the T20 World Cup.”

He further told that both Prithwi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal will have to wait for their turn for the national call-up.

Both the young guns have done tremendously well in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shaw was dropped from the Indian Test side after a twin failure in Adeilade. However, Padikkal has not yet made it to the national side.
