Virat Kohli will play one more match for Delhi in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 ahead of India's upcoming ODI series against New Zealand. Kohli has confirmed his availability for his third match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which will be played on January 06, 2026, between Delhi and Railways.

DDCA President Rohan Jaitley confirmed that Kohli will be playing in Delhi’s match against Railways at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE). However, It will be his last match for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 as IND vs NZ ODI Series 2026 is scheduled to start from January 11, 2026, in Vadodara.

Why Vijay Kohli Decided to Play the Third Match?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has advised centrally contracted players to take part in at least two domestic matches when available after national duty. While Kohli has already fulfilled that requirement, he wants to play an extra game to stay in rhythm ahead of the IND vs NZ ODI series 2026.

Virat Kohli is in excellent form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 so far. He scored 131 in the first match of the tournament and then played a crucial knock of 77 runs in the second game. As of now, Kohli has scored 208 runs at a strike rate of 128.40 in the VHT 2025-26.

Why did Kohli and Rohit Miss Recent VHT Matches?

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma did not play their team's third-round Vijay Hazare Trophy matches. Kohli missed Delhi’s game against Odisha and Services, while Rohit has already ended his journey in the VHT 2025-26 to prepare for the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand.
