Virat Kohli Ready for 2027 ODI World Cup, Says Childhood Coach
Virat Kohli is now slowly getting into “God Mode,” and he has once again shown why he remains one of India's most reliable batters in ODI cricket. Despite ongoing discussions about his future in ODIs and whether he will be part of the 2027 ODI World Cup, Kohli worked on himself and let his performance speak.
Virat Kohli played domestic cricket after quite a long time and delivered back-to-back impactful innings for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. Kohli played an impressive knock of 131 against Andhra in the opening match of the tournament. Kohli played another fantastic knock of 77 runs against Gujarat and led his team to the 2nd victory.
Kohli’s recent form has been impressive; he has shown great cricketing skills and played more responsibly. Before the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Virat Kohli performed exceptionally in the three-match ODI series against South Africa, scoring 302 runs, including 2 centuries.
Virat Kohli’s childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma declared that Kohli is fully prepared for the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be held in Africa. In an interview with ANI, Rajkumar Sharma praised Kohli’s discipline and consistency.
Rajkumar Sharma said, “He is in brilliant form and has continued his rhythm. He played domestic cricket after a long time and still delivered a top-class performance. He has scored hundreds in his previous matches and is the most consistent player in Team India. For me, he is fully ready for the World Cup.”
Rajkumar Sharma supported Kohli over his bad form earlier this year. He said even the best players go through short lean phases, and one or two low scores do not define a cricketer of Kohli’s stature. He added, “He’s a big player who understands his game very well. There can be phases where things don’t go your way, but that doesn’t mean the quality is gone. His record speaks for itself.” Kohli’s phenomenal performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy show his commitment to the game and also show his importance in India’s ODI squad. Kohli’s presence in the Delhi lineup has added both stability and confidence, which led them to win two back-to-back games in the tournament. However, Kohli will now focus on the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand, which is all set to start from January 11, 2026, in Vadodara. As per the reports, both Kohli and Rohit were supposed to play only the first two games, and now, they will leave the tournament to prepare for the IND vs NZ ODI Series.
