Vijay Hazare Trophy: Rs 60,000 Per Match! Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma Salary Breakdown
The Return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to the Vijay Hazare Trophy has grabbed massive attention in Indian domestic cricket. Virat Kohli represented Delhi, while Rohit Sharma represented Mumbai, and both smashed centuries in the first match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
However, Kohli and Rohit will now focus on the upcoming India vs New Zealand ODI series, and they are unlikely to play more matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. There are also reports claiming that Virat Kohli might play one more game in the VHT 2025-26 for Delhi, but there’s no official confirmation.
Unlike the Indian Premier League (IPL), where players earn crores, especially someone like Kohli and Rohit. The domestic tournaments like the Vijay Hazare Trophy follow a fixed salary structure set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Vijay Hazare Trophy Salary Structure (2025-26)

Reserves: Rs 30,000 per match
Mid-Level Category (21 - 40 List A Matches)

Reserves: Rs 25,000 per match
Junior Category (0 - 20 List A Matches)
Playing XI: Rs 40,000 per match

How the Vijay Hazare Trophy Salaries System Works
The Vijay Hazare Trophy is India’s top List A (50-over) domestic tournament, and the player payments are decided using a tiered system, depending on how many List A matches he has played in his career.
Note: There is no special category for Big Stars. Whether it is Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma or any other senior players, everyone is paid according to the same rules.
How Much Kohli and Rohit will Earn from Vijay Hazare Trophy?
Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma fall under the senior category, which includes players who have played more than 40 List A matches. The Match fee is fixed at Rs 60,000 per game, provided they are part of the playing XI.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma played two matches each in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, which means they have earned Rs 1.20 Lakh each from match fees. If we compare this with International cricket. The BCCI pays Rs 6 lakh per ODI to players like Kohli and Rohit.
Additional earnings in the Vijay Hazare Trophy
