Vaibhav Suryavanshi Surpasses Virat Kohli’s record for most runs by an Indian batter in Youth ODIs. India Under-19 star opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi achieved this milestone during the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2026 match against Bangladesh at the Queen Sports Club in Bulawayo.

India first batted after Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bowl on a bowling-friendly track. Suryavanshi surpassed Kohli’s 978-run mark in Youth ODIs by smashing a boundary when six runs were needed to surpass the tally. With this, Vaibhav Suryavanshi currently has 979 runs in 19 innings.

However, Virat Kohli has achieved this milestone in 25 innings. Suryavanshi is now closing around the 1000 runs mark in Youth ODIs, and only five Indian players have achieved this milestone so far. Vijay Zol is the highest run-scorer in the Youth ODIs with 1404 runs, while Yashasvi Jaiswal is in second spot with 1386 runs.

India got all-out against Bangladesh Under-19.

India Under-19 Men’s Cricket Team lost some early wickets against Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket Team in Bulawayo. Captain Ayush Mahtre was dismissed for 6, followed by Vedant Trivedi, who was out without scoring. India were 25 for 2 in the first six overs of the game.

Bangladesh bowler Al Fahad used the conditions perfectly and got both crucial wickets. However, despite the early wickets, Vaibhav Suryavanshi looked comfortable and smashed boundaries from the start of his innings to shift the momentum in favor of India Under-19.

Vaibhav played a fantastic knock of 72 runs off 67 balls. Abhishek Kundu also supported him from the other end, and he also played an excellent innings of 80 runs in 112 balls. In the end, India Under-19 got all out by scoring 238 runs in 48.4 overs.

From the Bangladesh bowling department, Al Fahad bowled exceptionally well and took 5 wickets, while Md Iqbal Hasan Emon and Azizul Hakim Tamim got two wickets each. Overall, Bangladesh Under-19 played good cricket against the strong batting unit of India Under-19; however, the conditions were favorable for bowlers.
