UPW vs GG: Gujarat Giants move from last to two in points table after their thrashing win against UP Warriorz in WPL 2026

Gujarat Giants, after three successive losses, finally made a comeback as they registered their second win of the WPL 2026. The thrashed UP Warriorz by 45 runs at the BCA Stadium, Kotambi, Vadodara on Thursday. Asked to bat, Gujarat posted a total of 153 for eight, and then bundled out UP for 108.

Gujarat had a decent start with Beth Mooney (38) and Danni Wyatt-Hodge played some decent shots at the start. But they lost three wickets in quick succession, and found themselves struggling at 65 for three. But, Mooney and Sophie Devine (50*) joined hands and scored some crucial runs in the middle. 

While UP kept taking wickets at regular intervals, Devine batted till the end and slammed a brilliant half-century, taking her team to 153 for eight.

In the chase, UP lost Kiran Navgire for a golden duck. Soon after that captain Meg Lanning fell for 14. Phoebe Litchfield (32) looked good, but couldn’t bat for long as her wicket triggered the collapse.

UP were left reeling at 97 for nine. Chloe Tryon (30*) kept her team in the hunt, but she didn’t get support from others as UP got all out for 108, losing the game by 48 runs. With the win, they bagged crucial points and moved to second spot in points table.
