Team India's 20 Players Probable List for 2024 T20 World Cup, No New Faces in the Side

2024 T20 World Cup: With May 1 set as the deadline for the announcement of the squads of the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly shortlisted 20 players who will represent India in the World Cup event in the Caribbean and the USA. Team India's 2024 T20 World Cup squad will be led by Rohit Sharma.

As per the reports, the Indian selection committee is betting on experience and consistency rather than going with the players' few blitz exploits in the current IPL 2024.

The Indian squad is unlikely to have any surprise element in it, as tried and tested players are expected to be picked in the 15-member squad. The 5-member reserves list as well will have players who have performed consistently over the years in T20Is.

The big question in front of the Indian selection panel would be the pick between Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal. If both the batters walk into the side, then the selectors will have to chop either Rinku Singh or Shivam Dube off the squad.

Another tight call for the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel would be the choice in the wicketkeeping role. The likes of Sanju Samson, Jitesh Sharma, KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan are all in the fray, however, only one of them alongside Rishabh Pant will make his cut into the Indian side for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

While Hardik Pandya's form remains a concern for everyone, he is very likely to walk into the Indian side even if he isn't at the top of his fitness. At this point, the Indian talent pool isn't able to provide a worthy replacement for Hardik, who hasn't been at the top of his bowling fitness as of now.

Besides these selection conundrums, there are a few automatic selections for Team India. The likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammad Siraj and Arshdeep Singh will get their tickets for the World Cup 2024.
