TATA IPL 2023 is getting closer by the minute. Rishabh Pant, the star batter of the Indian cricket team, met with a major accident just a fortnight ago. His knee was ruptured in the accident, and he needed three surgeries to regain full fitness.
He is still in recovery mode and is yet to be discharged from the hospital. However, in a recent interview, Rickey Ponting had a very fun take on the presence of Rishabh Pant in the IPL. In the interview, Ricky Ponting had a great suggestion. He had a say that if Rishabh Pant cannot take part in the TATA IPL 2023 as a player, he can certainly join the team in the dugout and make sure that he is present. The idea behind this is the fact that Rishabh Pant is a “cultural leader” and his presence will add value to the TATA IPL 2023.
He is someone who has the power to inspire young players via mere presence. When enquired about this topic, this is what Ricky Ponting had to say on the ICC Review, “You can’t replace those guys, simple as that. They don’t grow on trees, players like that. We’ve got to look at — and we already are — a replacement to come into the squad, a wicketkeeper-batsman. If he’s actually not physically fit enough to play, we’d still love to have him around. He’s the sort of cultural leader around the group, being the captain, and that attitude and infectious smile and laughs he has is what we all love so much about him.”
“If he’s actually able to travel and be around the team, then I want him sitting beside me in the dugout every day of the week. I’ll certainly be making sure, come the middle of March when we get together in Delhi and start our camps and stuff, if he’s able to be there, then I want him around the whole time”, the former Australian captain elaborated.
Rishabh Pant Out for Most of Cricket in 2023:
If we were to consider only the actual facts. It can be believed that Rishabh Pant has been ruled out of most to all of the cricket in 2023. He was supposed to be an integral part of the scheme of things of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 which is supposed to be played in India.
