The TATA IPL 2023 is just a day away and there is “not-so-great” news for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. After reclaiming most of their players before the TATA IPL 2023 Auction and making nominal changes to their squad, the team was looking set for another fun season of the TATA IPL. But there is a change in the plan. Josh Hazlewood, their highest-ranked bowler is expected to miss out on the initial phase of the IPL due to injury. The same is the case with his Australian team-mate Glenn Maxwell who is going to miss the opening game of the Royal Challengers Bangalore:
Josh Hazlewood to Miss out on the Initial Phase of the TATA IPL:
Josh Hazlewood, the bowler ranked number 1 in the ICC ODI bowlers’ category is set to miss the initial stage of the TATA IPL 2023. This is a big blow to the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Hazlewood has been suffering from multiple injuries in the past two months. He last featured in the Sydney Test match against South Africa. Post that he suffered a strain on his Achilles tendon and was kept out of the entire Border Gavaskar series. He missed out on all 4 test matches.
Josh Hazlewood suffered the injury while practicing on the damp fields at the SCG. The soft part of the ground, where his foot landed expected him to apply added pressure on his lower foot. This has led to the injury and his recovery is taking added time. Hazlewood was bought for a staggering 7.75 crore Indian rupees.
Glenn Maxwell to Miss out on the first Game of RCB:
Glenn Maxwell, the designated number 4 batter of the Royal Challengers Bangalore who gives at least 2 overs while bowling is set to miss out on the first game of the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Maxwell is recovering from a leg injury. He, unfortunately, missed out on the last two games of the India versus Australia ODI series. He suffered this injury in a freak accident at a friend’s birthday party. Maxwell is currently with the RCB convoy. They have arranged rehabilitation facilities for him in the gyms and amenities available.
Maxwell is uncertain about the first game of the Royal Challengers Bangalore. But the RCB team has a possible replacement for him in the form of Michael Bracewell. Bracewell was splendid on the New Zealand tour of India. He scored an elite 140 against India. It will be great to see him play for the men in red.
