This is what a very senior BCCI official reported to a well-known media outlet, “Yes, there will be an opening ceremony on the 31st. It will be a short one but as the home and away format returns, we felt it was necessary to welcome back the home crowd with a ceremony.”

There are reports that the famous Bollywood Singer Arijit Singh has been approached and is in the conversation about performing at the opening ceremony. He has been the soulful voice behind many hit romantic songs. But as of now, no name is final. These are just reports.

The BCCI also had an opening ceremony for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League. But that ceremony wasn’t taken well as it lacked a Bollywood or a Pop Artist in general. It was a beautiful ceremony with various cultural performances from many artists. But the absence of a star figure ensured that the people gave mixed reactions. Some people loved it but most of them found it very dull.
