The TATA IPL 2022 has come to an end. The tournament witnessed 1000+ sixes for the first time. However, some bowlers did manage to make an impression in this batters’ league. The league saw many elite performances from the men giving the throwdowns. Yuzvendra Chahal and Wanindu Hasaranga were the spin wizards that dominated this season. On the other hand, pace sensation Umran Malik slashed every batter with sheer pace. Jasprit Bumrah managed to get his first-ever 5-wicket haul. Here is a look at the top 5 bowling performances from TATA IPL 2022:
5) Hardik Pandya’s Spell in the Final:
Hardik Pandya led from the front in TATA IPL 2022. He led by example and showed the way for the Titans. Pandya flipped the final of IPL 2022 on its head with his spell of 4 overs. This is a big green flag for the Indian national team as Hardik has started bowling. With him being fully fit he is certainly going to be the 6th bowling option. The spell was his IPL career-best performance and it came when it mattered the most. He took 3 wickets for 17 runs. The matching-changing spell had the wickets of Jos Butler, Samson, and Hetmyer.
The performance was acknowledged by “Bollywood Star Aamir Khan” who was on air with the Star TV network. He said this has been one of the best performances of Hardik that he ever witnessed.
4) Jasprit Bumrah’s 5-Wicket Haul was a Top Performance in TATA IPL 2022:
Jasprit Bumrah didn’t have the best of times with the ball this season. Also, I am saying this after Jasprit ended the season with 15 wickets at an economy of 7.18. ANy other bowler would have been craving to have such a season but this season was decent with Boom’s standard. Bumrah rattled the Kolkata Knight Riders with a barrage of quick short-balls. He got his first ever 5-wicket haul in the IPL. This spell also witnessed an over with 3 wickets.
He took the big wickets of Andre Russell, Nitish Rana, and Sunil Narine too. Bumrah was spitting fire that evening. He ended with figures of 5 for 10. Bumrah has dominated over Dre Russ for the past few years. Bumrah was clocking 145 to 150 clicks.
3) Umran Malik’s 5-Wicket Haul was a Top Performance in TATA IPL 2022:
“Pace Sensation” Umran Mailk rattled the Gujarat Titans with a fiery spell. He took his first-ever 5-wicket haul in the IPL. He legitimately dominated the Gujarat batters by sheer pace. That evening he was clocking 150 to 155 clicks consistently. He took the following wickets:
Umran blew away the entire Gujarat batting single-handedly. He ended with figures of 5-25. He also hit Hardik Pandya on his wrist with one of his fiery bouncers.
2) Wanindu Hasaranga’s Spell Against the Sunrisers Hyderabad:
Wanindu Hasaranga justified every penny that was spent on him. After the internet went crazy and tagged Hasaranga as over-priced, the Sri Lankan had to deliver. He grasped 26 wickets this season and was only behind Yuzi Chahal in the race for the purple cap. He was an integral part of RCB’s TATA IPL 2022 campaign. The void of Yuzi Chahal in RCB was effectively filled by Hasaranga.
His performance against the Sunrisers in the day game was elite. RCB were wearing their “green jersey” that day. He picked the wickets of Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran, Jagadeesha Suchith, Shashank Singh, and Umran Malik. Hasaranga was spinning the ball like a wizard that day. He dared to fly the ball and received the rewards for the same.
1) Yuzvendra Chahal’s 5-Wicket Haul was the best Bowling Performance in TATA IPL 2022:
Yuzvendra Chahal had a dream TATA IPL 2022. He previously had never won a purple cap but ended this season with one. His performances have been exceptional in all of the seasons. He was on a hat-trick two times this season and ended up getting one. This speaks volumes of the dominance that he had. The batters at the far end of the tournament decided to play him out without handing out any wickets.
His spell against KKR saw him take 5 wickets. He grabbed the wickets of Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana, Pat Cummins, Shreyas Iyer, and Shivam Mavi. Yuzi also took 4 wickets in one over and turned the match on its head. He ended with figures of 5-40. KKR was chasing a 200+ score and fell short by 7 runs. It was Chahal’s spell that derailed their march to victory.
