<p><strong>Mithali Raj hints at coming back from retirement to play Women?s IPL: </strong>Indian women legendary cricketer, Mithali Raj has hinted at taking back her retirement to feature in the inaugural season of the Women?s Indian Premier League (IPL). Raj had announced her retirement in June following an illustrious and memorable cricketing career that spanned long 22 years.</p>



<p>In her recent interaction with Isha Guha and Frankie Mackay in ICC?s 100% Cricket podcast, Mithali Raj said that he is open to the opportunity to play the first season of the Women's IPL, however, she hasn?t made any decision as of yet.</p>



<p>?I?m keeping that option open. I?ve not yet decided. There are a few more months to go before the women?s IPL happens. It would be lovely to be part of the first edition of the women?s IPL,? Mithali stated when asked whether he would like to be a part of the inaugural season of the Women?s IPL.</p>



<p>Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has coped flak for not investing enough in Women?s cricket. However, after reviewing the possibility of growth, the BCCI is now fully prepared to launch Women?s IPL in the coming few months or years.</p>



<p>It is important to note that, BCCI, every year, organises a three-team Women?s T20 Challenger series.?</p>

<p>Mithali Raj, who retired as the leading run-getter in Women?s ODI, heaped praise on young Shafali Verma. The 39 years old said she is the biggest fan of Verma?s game.</p>



<p>?I have been a big fan of her game. I have seen that she?s one player who has the ability to win the game single-handedly for India against any attack and any team. She is one of those players that you get to see probably once in a generation. She played for my team, and I saw that she has the ability and the raw power that you rarely get to see at that age to clear the boundary and hit a six at will,? Raj added.</p>



<p>Notably, Shefali Verma in the year 2019 became the youngest Indian cricketer to play Women's Twenty20 International at the age of 15 years.</p>

<p><strong>ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023:</strong> Just six days to go until the ICC women's T20 World Cup. The International Cricket Council has already announced the schedule and fixtures for the Women's World Cup 2023 season. On February 10, a match between hosts South Africa and Sri Lanka will kick off the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2023.</p>



<p>Australia are the defending champions as they crushed India in the final of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2020 by 80+ runs. <a href="https://www.t20worldcup.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Australia</a> once again are coming out as the most favourites for the titles this year too. Meanwhile, Indian women are also ready to take revenge if the title is at stake. Although India and Australia, both are in different Groups so they won't face each other till the knockout rounds.</p>

<p>The group stage will feature a total of 4 matches for Team India, with the first one taking place on February 12 in Cape Town versus Pakistan. Along with England, the West Indies, Pakistan, and Ireland, Team India is a member of Group 2. On February 15, India will play West Indies at the same location. On February 18, England and on February 20, Ireland will be the next targets for India. The semifinal matches will include the top two teams from each group after the group stage. The final will be staged on February 26, 2023.</p>

<p><strong>DC Schedule, full Squad, Captain, Probable playing 11, Fixture, and all you need to know about Delhi Capitals:</strong> The franchise of the Central City and the capital City Of India, Delhi Capitals have banked into WPL 2023 with a strong contingent of 18 players. The Delhi Capitals will begin their WPL campaign on March 5 against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first season of the WPL, which will be played at the Brabourne Stadium.</p>



<p>Delhi Capitals (DC) made the smallest financial expense during the WPL 2023 auction, which was held in Mumbai on February 13. In the auction, DC spent 11.65 crores to purchase 18 players. Jemimah Rodrigues cost the Capitals the most money (2.20 cr). Delhi placed a 2 crore bid for Shafali Verma, the young sensation and captain of the U19 Women's World Cup winning team.</p>

<p>Dehli named 5-time World Cup winner Australian Meg Lanning as Captain, while veteran Proteas all-rounder Marizanne Kapp is also there in the squad and also includes the young Indian wonder Titas Sadhu, who was key in India's U19 T20 WC victory. With a great combination of young and seasoned players, the Delhi team enters the competition as one of the favorites.</p>

<p>The 2nd match of the 3rd season of Women's Premier League 2025 (WPL)  at the Kotambi Stadium of Vadodara between arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) and Delhi Capitals (DC). This match is considered the El Clasico of the WPL as both are regarded as two of the strongest &amp; dominating teams in the competition's history. This match at the Kotambi Stadium between the Harmanpreet Kaur-led Team &amp; Meg Lanning-led team proved to be a nail-biting and thrilling contest as <span> Delhi ended up emerging victorious, winning by a small margin of  2 wickets in a game that was filled with twists and turns. It was a nail-biting finish but in the end, a photo finish from Arundhati Reddy and the Capitals are off to a winning start. </span></p>
<p><span>Shafali Verma's aggressive start with the bat helped DC set the tone of the chase, but her dismissal allowed MI to regain control and get back in the game. However, much to the dismay of the MI fans, two crucial partnership stands, a 33-run stand between Niki Prasad &amp; Alice Capsey for the fifth wicket, followed by a crucial partnership of 31 runs for the sixth wicket between Niki Prasad and Sarah Bryce, helped the two-time runners-up edge closer to tasting success. In the end, it was tailender Arundhati Reddy who held her nerve and scored the winning runs off the final delivery of the contest to seal a nail-biting win for Delhi.</span></p>
<p><span>Mumbai's bowling and captaincy, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, left a lot to be desired. Kaur's calculations went awry, as she was unable to utilize Saika Ishaque's remaining over, having already bowled the 19th. The Mumbai bowlers did manage to pick up some wickets, with Amelia Kerr and Hayley Matthews claiming two each, while Shabnim Ismail, Natalie Sciver-Brunt, and Sajana S took one apiece. </span></p>

<p><span>In the first inning of this encounter, the Mumbai-based team opted to have a first t and posted a reasonable score of 164 runs thanks to a well made &amp; excellent knock of 80 runs from Natalie Sciver-Brunt while Harmanpreet Kaur also played a good hand with her aggressive inning of 42 runs as the rest of the MI batters failed to contribute. The trio of Shikha Pandey (2-14), Annabel Sutherland (3-34), and Minnu Mani (1-23) were the standout bowlers for the Delhi side.</span></p>
<p><span>But in the end, the batting might of the two-time runners-up proved too much for the MI bowling unit to handle and Meg Lanning &amp; CO eventually ran away with two well-deserved points. With this winning start, Delhi has occupied the 2nd spot in the overall standings while the 2023 winners have dropped down to the 3rd place after failing to secure a win in their opening match.</span></p>

<p><span>Nat Sciver-Brunt achieved the feat in the game against Gujarat Giants in the ongoing Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025. The 5th match of the tournament between the teams took place at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Tuesday (18th February).</span></p>
<p><span>After losing the first game of the WPL 2025, Mumbai Indians made a strong comeback as they defeated Gujarat Giants by 5 wickets. One of the major reasons behind the win of the franchise was Nat Sciver-Brunt, as she played a brilliant innings and helped the team chase the target of 120 runs.</span><span><span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></p>
<p><span>Nat Sciver-Brunt played a magnificent innings of 57 runs off 37 balls. She batted with a strike rate of over 146 and slammed 11 boundaries in her innings. <p>Shafali Verma, the explosive right-handed opening batter of Team India, often termed as the 'Female Virender Sehwag' is set to make her highly-anticipated comeback to the Indian Women's National Cricket Team's squad as she replaces the injured Pratika Rawal ahead of the semi-final match of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup versus Australia.</p>
<p>She's set to link up with the rest of her teammates before the crucial knockout game versus the Mighty Australians on the 30th of October in Navi Mumbai and will be available for selection in the playing 11 right away.</p>
<p>While India Women's World Cup squad was announced two months ago in Ausgust, Verma was surprisingly omitted from the squad and in her place, Pratika Rawal was picked as the opening partner of vice-captain Smriti Mandhana as the selection committee wanted consistent performances rather than the X-Factor. The right-handed batter hasn't taken part in One-Day International Cricket for the Women in Blue since October of 2024 but has been constantly plying her trade for India-A in the ODI Format.</p>
<p>In the domestic one-dayers for Haryana in December 2024, the 21-year-old also amassed 524 runs at an average of 75.26 and a mindblowing strike rate of 152.30, with a high of 197 off 115 balls versus Bengal. She then went on to have an incredible WPL 2025 season with the three-time runners up Delhi Capitals, where she was the most productive Indian batter with 302 runs at a strike rate of 152.70, ranking fourth in the season's top run-getter list.</p>
<p>Shafali might immediately enter the starting lineup for the semi-final matchup against Australia as Rawal's substitute. But given how successful the duo of Rawal and Mandhana were at the World Cup, she will have enormous shoes to fill. Two of the tournament's top five batting partnerships, 210 run partnership against New Zealand and 153 against Australia involved the two. With scores of 75 against Australia and a game-winning knock of 122 runs against Sophie Devine-led New Zealand in the league stage, Pratika herself averaged 51.33 in six innings.</p>
<p>In the last league-stage match between India and Bangladesh, Rawal, the tournament's second-highest run scorer, hurt herself while Bangladesh was batting. In the twenty-first over of Bangladesh's innings, Rawal attempted to stop a boundary, but her ankle twisted as she fell to the ground after her foot seemed to get trapped in the grass. In the match that was ultimately called off without a conclusion, Amanjot Kaur opened in her place, and she did not bat afterward. Rawal has more runs than anybody else in this World Cup, except for her opening-partner Mandhana.</p>
<p>India may choose to start with the opening pair of Mandhana and Harleen Deol in the knockout match against Australia if Shafali does not immediately make the starting lineup. Jemimah Rodrigues, who has opened 18 times in 50-over cricket, and Uma Chetry, who opened the inning in the warm-up match against New Zealand, are more options.</p>
