MI vs DC WPL: Delhi Capitals Beat Mumbai Indians by 9 Wickets to Climb TOP of the WPL Points Table 2025

This was a contest between the political capital of India and the financial capital of India. Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bowl first. They didn’t take any wickets in the first five overs but maintained disciplined line and length. Both Mumbai openers were dismissed within the space of six balls, right at the edge of the powerplay.

Nat Sciver and Harmanpreet Kaur attempted to rebuild the innings, but Jess Jonassen had other plans. She caught Harmanpreet off guard and, two overs later, took a sharp catch off her own bowling to dismiss Nat Sciver. Delhi Capitals seized control, and Mumbai Indians collapsed from 83 for 2 to 104 for 7 in no time. Amanjot Kaur provided a late push, scoring 17 off just 10 balls to help Mumbai post a total of 123.

It was never going to be enough against a quality side like Delhi Capitals. Openers Shafali Verma and Meg Lanning dominated the Mumbai bowling attack, dispatching deliveries to all parts of the ground. While Shabnim Ismail put up a commendable effort, she received little support from the rest of the attack.

Shafali Verma played a fantastic knock but couldn’t stay until the end. However, Meg Lanning’s experience, coupled with her brilliant form, was more than enough to chase down 124 with ease. Delhi Capitals defeated Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets in under 15 overs. It was a tough day on the field for Mumbai Indians.
