The second match of the WPL 2024 is scheduled to be played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and UP Warriorz. The contest will be played in the home ground of the Bangalore-based franchise, M. Chinnaswamy Stadium at 7:30 PM IST. 



Both teams will look to start with a win as both teams didn't have the ideal season 1. RCB ended the season at the 4th position in the points table with just 2 wins in 8 matches whereas UPW got slightly better numbers but ended at 3rd position with 4 wins in 8 matches.

WPL 2024: Smriti Mandhana led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) secured a nail-biting two-run victory against Alyssa Healy?s UP Warriorz in the second game of the WPL 2024 at Bangalore's M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, February 24th. After being put in to bat first by Healy, Bangalore lost their opener, Sophie Devine (1 run in five balls), in the first ball of the third over as Grace Harris (1-22) caught her plumb in front of the wickets. Tahlia Mcgrath (1-39) got the better of RCB Skipper Smriti Mandhana (13 runs in 11 balls), while Sophie Ecclestone dealt with the threat of Ellyse Perry (8 runs in 7 balls) as she sent Perry back to the pavilion on the last ball of the 8th over. The home team were struggling at 54-3 at the end of eight overs but then the duo of Richa Ghosh (62 runs in 37 balls) and Sabbhineni Meghana (53 runs in 44 balls) started the rescue act for the Bangalore based team as they duo added 71 runs for the fourth wicket, which propelled their side to 157-6 in 20 overs.



Talking about the bowling department of the UP Warriorz, Rajeshwari Gayakwad (2-24) took a brace of wickets while the trio of Sophie Ecclestone (1-26), Tahlia McGrath (1-39), and Deepti Sharma (1-23) picked up one wicket each.



In reply to RCB?s 157 runs, the UP Warriors were able to score just 155 runs in 20 overs at the loss of seven wickets as they fell short of the target of 158 runs by two runs. Shweta Sehrawat (31 runs in 25 balls) and Grace Harris (38 runs in 23 balls) were the top scorers for the UP based team.



Leg Spinner Sobhana Asha (5-22) destroyed the batting unit of the UP Warriorz with her brilliant fifer, as her exceptional bowling performance allowed RCB to turn the match in their favour. Sophie Molineux (1-36) and Georgia Wareham (1-23) took a wicket each.

Delhi Capitals young English batter Alice Capsey continues to be the leading run getter in the current edition of the WPL with 75 runs. RCB?s Richa Ghosh has replaced Mumbai?s Yastika Bhatia at the second position with 62 runs. Yastika Bhatia has dropped down to the third place from second with 57 runs next to her name.&nbsp;



MI Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has fallen down to the fourth spot from the third spot with 55 runs. RCB batter Sabbhineni Meghana (53 runs) has occupied the fifth position while the sixth and the seventh places are occupied by Jemimah Rodrigues (42 runs) and Grace Harris (38 runs) respectively.

RCB?s leg spinner Sobhana Asha is currently the leading wicket taker of WPL 2024 with five scalps thanks to her fifer against the UP Warriorz. Alice Capsey has fallen to the second position with two wickets at an average of 11.5, while Rajeshwari Gayakwad (two wickets) is at number three with an average of 12.

Match number nine of the Tata Women's Premier League (WPL) 2025 proved to be a magnificent and thrilling encounter as defending champions <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/wpl-2026-mi-vs-rcb-probable-playing-xi-women-s-premier-league-2026-mumbai-indians-vs-royal-challengers-bengaluru-match-no-1/" title="Royal Challengers Bengaluru" class="auto-internal-link" data-auto-link="1" data-link-type="suggestion" data-rule-id="0">Royal Challengers Bengaluru</a> suffered a defeat versus Deepti Sharma's UP Warriorz in a hard-fought manner in the super over. Whenever both the teams clash against each other, it always brings entertainment and this was the case this time around as well as the Bengaluru crowd got the perfect entertainment and thrilling show.

<h2>Match tied, then super over</h2>
In this clash, RCB scored 180 runs while playing first. Captain Smriti Mandhana was out early for Bangalore, but Alice Perry and Daniel Wyatt Hodge thrashed the UP bowlers fiercely. On one hand, Alice Perry played an innings of 90 runs in 56 balls, during which she hit 9 fours and 3 sixes. Along with her, Wyatt scored 57 runs. In this way, RCB scored 180 runs while playing first.
UP Warriors got a target of 181 runs. No player of the team could score a fifty, but captain Deepti Sharma's quick innings of 25 runs in 13 balls, and apart from her, Shweta Sehrawat also contributed 31 runs. In the last overs, Sophie Ecclestone scored 33 runs in 19 balls and Saima Thakur also scored 14 runs quickly and helped UP to tie the match.
<h2>The thrill of super over</h2>
UP's innings - UP Warriors scored two runs on the first two balls. One ball was wide, but a wicket came on the third ball of the over. The fourth ball was a dot. One run on the fifth ball, but Kim Garth bowled wide again after that. One run came on the last ball again, due to which UP scored 8 runs in the super over.
RCB's innings - UP chose the world's number one bowler Sophie Ecclestone for bowling. Richa Ghosh could not score any run on the first ball, one run came on the second ball. The third ball was again a dot and a single run came on the fourth ball. One run came on the fifth and sixth ball as well, due to which Bangalore could score only four runs. In this way, Bangalore lost this match by 4 runs.

They thumped UP Warriorz by nine wickets at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai.
UPW struggled to get going with the bat right from the start despite changing the opening combination. Both openers in Meg Lanning and Harleen Deol perished early. Phoebe Litchfield (20) tried to get going but she too perished as RCB bowlers were all over the opposition. 
UPW were left struggling at 50 for five and it was then that Deepti Sharma (45*) and Deandra Dottin (40*) fought hard and took UP to a fighting total. Thanks to the 93-run stand between Sharma and Dottin, UP posted a total of 143 for five. For RCB, Nadine de Klerk picked up two wickets. 
RCB openers, especially Grace Harris (85) came out all guns blazing and thrashed UP bowlers all over the park. Captain Smriti Mandhana (47*), at the other end, was also at her best as the opposition had no clue of their carnage. 
Both the openers added 137 for the opening wicket as Bengaluru won the game with nine wickets in hand and with around eight overs to spare.
