PAK VS NZ 5th T20I: New Zealand won the 5th T20 international against Pakistan by six wickets. All credit goes to Mark Chapman, who played a fantastic knock of 104* runs, James Neesham scored 45* runs, and Blair Tickner, who picked three crucial wickets.&nbsp;



In the first Inning, <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/?s=Pakistan" rel="nofollow">Pakistan </a>came to bat, both Babar and Rizwan made a partnership of 51 runs. After that, Haris and Ayub got out on duck. Iftikhar Ahmed played a power-hitting knock of 36 runs, and Imad Wasim (31*) supported his team to set 193 runs. Mohammed Rizwan played a terrific knock of 98* runs in the final T20I against NZ.&nbsp;



In the second innings,<a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/?s=new+zealand" rel="nofollow"> New Zealand</a> played outstanding cricket and won the match by six wickets in Rawalpindi. Once again, Mark Chapman played a match-winning knock of 104 runs, helping New Zealand to level the series. 



After a poor start from New Zealand Openers, Mark Chapman and James Neesham made a historic partnership of 121 runs. Only Shaheen and Imad took two wickets but couldn't lead their team to victory.

For the first time in the history of New Zealand Cricket, Mark Chapman became the first batter who scored a century against Pakistan on Pakistani soil in T20I cricket. 



The Match-winning innings came from Mark Chapman helped New Zealand multiple times in this series. In five T20I, he scored 290 runs with two half-centuries and one century with a strike rate of 165.5.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">James Neesham Shines with ball and bat in this series:</h2>



James Neesham performed Phenomenal with the bat and played a knock of 45 runs in the final T20I of the series. Neesham bowled very well in this series and picked a total of 5 wickets in 5 matches.

Pakistan won the first two matches of this series but failed to win the next three games in which he lost two matches. New Zealand drew the series at 2-2 against Pakistan, and it was another setback after they lost the series against <a href="https://www.icccricketschedule.com/?s=Afghanistan" rel="nofollow">Afghanistan</a>. 



The overall performance of Pakistan in this series is outstanding, but New Zealand outperformed Pakistan in the last three T20Is. Player of the match and Player of the series goes to Mark Chapman for his valuable 290 runs in five matches for his team. Salman Ali Agha is at 132* (148), whereas Mohd. Rizwan is at 37* (61), and both are having 95 runs partnership for the sixth wicket. Sarfaraz Ahmed Retires Hurt After balls hit his Head, and Mohd Rizwan was named as Concussion Sub.



As per the International Cricket Council (ICC) guidelines, a Concussion Replacement may be allowed if a player has a head or neck injury during the match.



Sri Lankan Bowlers didn't perform their best in this match, and their bowlers took only three wickets on Day 3, Fast Bowler Asitha Fernando took three wickets, and Prabath Jayasuriya took two wickets.



Sri Lankan bowlers failed to break the partnership of Abdullah Shafique and Salman Ali Agha, and it will definitely cost them as Pakistan had a massive lead of 397 runs, and most possibly, they will put 50 more runs on the scoreboard.



Now, Pakistan is in a good position, and they had an advantage in this match because of such a huge lead. This will pressure to the Sri Lankan batting department to score runs quickly on the scoreboard.

Rizwan</a> scored 26 runs in 26 balls, the middle order of Multan Sultans collapsed in the final match which is why they have a low total on the scoreboard.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially turned down Bangladesh’s proposal to host a T20I Tri-Nation Series in December 2025. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had invited Pakistan and Sri Lanka for the tri-series to prepare for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. However, PCB clearly refused due to players’ workload management.
According to reports, the PCB told Bangladesh that December is not a suitable month for a tri-nation series. They siad that the players have already been playing continuous cricket in recent months, and some of them even have future commitments in overseas leagues like the Big Bash League (BBL).
Pakistan has played lots of cricket in recent times; they played the 2025 Asia Cup in the UAE and then, a red-ball and white-ball series against South Africa at home. Currently, they are playing a three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. After this series, Pakistan will be playing the T20I Tri-Nation series, which includes Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.
<h2 dir="ltr">Pakistan Players Prioritized for overseas leagues:</h2>
Another big reason behind PCB’s decision is that many senior players already have No Objection Certificate (NOCs) for overseas T20 leagues during December and January. Players like Babar Azam, Mohd. Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf will be playing in the BBL and ILT20.

2026 will be a busy season for lots of teams, including Pakistan, there are several big tours, PSL, BBL, ILT20, and the T20 World Cup 2026. So, the Pakistan Cricket Board need to carefully plan their players' workload so that their players are available for the important tournaments.
PCB’s decision to reject Bangladesh’s tri-series proposal is part of a big plan to keep players fit and fresh for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which is scheduled to be played in February-March 2026 in India and Sri Lanka.
