Vivo IPL 2021: Tabraiz Shamshi has joined Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of Vivo IPL 2021

Vivo IPL 2021: The number one ranked T20I bowler, Tabraiz Shamshi has joined Rajasthan Royals (RR), the franchise announced on Wednesday. Shamshi will join the franchise as the second replacement player for the remainder of the IPL 2021.

Earlier, Glenn Phillips was roped into the squad by the former IPL champions for the remaining matches as the replacement of wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler, who pulled out of the IPL 2021, as he and his wife are expecting their second child.

Shamshi has been phenomenal in the T20I cricket lately. The spinner made his international debut back in 2017 against England in a T20I series.

The 31 years old tweaker has picked up 45 wickets in 39 T20I matches while 32 wickets in 27 One Day appearances for South Africa.

Tabraiz Shamshi has represented Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) prior to this. He was brought into the RCB squad as a replacement in the 2016 IPL and the spinner scalped 3 wickets in four matches.

Vivo IPL 2021: Tabraiz Shamshi has joined Rajasthan Royals (RR) ahead of Vivo IPL 2021.

Royals are forced into an uneasy situation after a couple of their overseas players have withdrawn their names from the cash-rich league.

Earlier, pacer Jofra Archer was ruled out due to his elbow injury. Meanwhile, Andrew Tye has recently revealed that he won’t be available for the remainder of the IPL 2021.

Tye flew back to Australia midway through the first couple of matches of the IPL 2021 in April citing bubble fatigue.

“It is with great regret that I have to pull out of the remainder of the IPL 2021 with the Rajasthan Royals,” Andrew Tye said in the statement issued by RR.

“It has been a long year for me which has kept me away from home for a lengthy period, and the disappointment of not making it to the World Cup squad has added to the dismay.”

“Therefore, keeping my best interests in mind, I had to make this tough decision of staying at home and preparing myself mentally and physically for next year’s T20 World Cup. I am gutted that I won’t be able to rejoin the Royals family this year, but like all the fans out there, I will be cheering the team on.”
