The T20 World Cup 2022 is around the corner. Leadership is one aspect that can light the team up. When we talk about great captains, names such as Steve Waugh, Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni, and Darren Sammy come to mind. But if we are to speak numerically, in terms of stats, who are the most successful T20I captains across the globe? Which are the leaders who have played a significant number of games as the skipper and have had a great win percentage?

Rohit Sharma (77.77 Win Percentage in 45 Games) will lead India at the T20 World Cup:

Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian T20 Team has one of the top win percentages. The numbers however can be confusing at times. Rohit has become the full-time leader at this very moment. He has led the team after the 2021 T20 World Cup. With that being said, most of his wins have come against sub-string teams. But we cannot forget that he has made the Indian team an unplayable force. Under his leadership, the Indian team has also adopted the “Bazzball” kind of approach. He is an exceptional leader.

Asghar Afghan (81.37 Win Percentage in 52 Games) will not lead Afghanistan at the T20 World Cup:

Asghar Afghan or Asghar Stanikzai as he was formerly known was one hell of a leader. He took the Afghanistan team on the rise. He was the one who led stars like Rashid Khan, Nabi, Mohammad Shahzad, and Mujeeb. He gave them the freedom to express themselves. He isn’t a part of the squad anymore but he has left a legacy behind for them. Rashid Khan led the Afghan team for a short span and it was Gulbadin Naib at the ICC ODI World Cup 2019. This time the leadership is in the hands of Mohammad Nabi.

Babar Azam (66.66% in 59 games) :

Babar Azam had to be on this list. He took the Pakistan team out of the hot waters. When layers and layers of criticism were thrown at them, he ensured that he got the situation under control. He was the one who found gems like Shaheen, Naseem, and Rizwan. He used the players to their fullest potential. In the game against India at the Asia Cup, he sent Mohammad Nawaz up the order and this was the turning point. He also knows how to make use of players like Asif Ali. Babar himself is a complete batter and leads by example. Pakistan will not get a better leader at the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.
