T20 World Cup 2026 Qualification: Nepal & Oman Join 19 Teams, UAE, Japan & Qatar Battle for Final Spot
Nepal and Oman have officially joined the list of 19 teams that have qualified for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which is all set to be played in India and Sri Lanka from February to March 2026. ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia & EAP Qualifiers are still going; however, out of three, two spots are now confirmed by Nepal and Oman after their exceptional performance in the qualifiers.
After the United Arab Emirates (UAE) defeated Samoa at AI Amerat Cricket Ground by 77 runs, Nepal and Oman, who were already in the top 2 spots in the points table, got tickets for the T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, the UAE, Japan, and Qatar are still in the race, and they will be fighting for the last spot.
Nepal is unbeaten in the Asia-EAP Qualifiers; they have played four games and won all of them. In the recent match, they defeated Oman by 38 runs. However, Oman also played four games and won three of them, but lost only one game against Nepal. The chances of the United Arab Emirates getting the last ticket for the T20 World Cup 2026 are too high.
Earlier this month, Zimbabwe and Namibia qualified for the tournament through the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers. A total of 20 teams are set to participate in the upcoming 2026 World Cup, and there will be five groups; each group will have four teams. The top 2 teams from each group will move to the Super 8 stage, then the knockout stage.
