The 10-team tournament was previously scheduled to be organized in Bangladesh but due to political unrest in the country, the tournament is moved to UAE. However, Bangladesh would be acting as the host for the tournament.
The 10 Teams are divided into two groups- GROUP A and GROUP B, where India stand in Group A along with New Zealand, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Australia. India Women will contest against each group member once on October 4, 6, 9, and 13 respectively.
The BCCI have already announced the strong 15-membered India Squad for the tournament led by Harmanpreet Kaur. Let’s take a look at the Indian Squad for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024:
India Women Squad for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Regarding the starting lineup, India have a core of technically superior batters and bowlers in this list. The veteran and classy lefty Smriti Mandhana is certain to open the innings with aggressive Shafali Verma.
Jamimah Rodrigues could be an ideal number-three batter as she has all the skills on her wrists. The skipper Harmanpreet Kaur must be the number four for India. The powerhouse Richa Ghosh should be batting number 5 as she has the ability to take on any bowler in any given circumstance.
Team India have two specialist all-rounders at numbers 6 and 7- Deepti Sharma and Pooja Vastrakar and this builds up the strong core of the Indian Team.
Arundhati Reddy has shown promising performances in the past and she can bat as well so totally justifies the number 8 spot. Radha Yadav and Renuka Singh Thakur at numbers 9 and 10 are certain as they are basically the backbone of the Indian Women’s bowling lineup in the present scenario.
That one spot left can be flexible either if team needs an extra bowler or an extra batter. Shreyanka Patil or Yastika Bhatiya are going to be our pick for the remaining slot.
