Sri Lanka Qualified for the World Cup 2023 in India: After Defeating Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka became the first team from the World Cup Qualifiers 2023 to get a ticket for the Mega ICC Event in India.

Sri Lanka has shown Dominance over Zimbabwe in their Super Six match as they beat them by nine wickets and easily chased the target of 166 runs in 33.1 overs.

The Player of the Match was Mahesh Theekshana, who took four wickets and gave only 25 runs in 8.2 overs. Pathum Nissanka played a superb inning and scored 101 runs in 102 balls.

Zimbabwe, who were looking in great touch in the tournament, lost the match against Sri Lanka after having a poor performance. This might be their worst performance in this tournament as they got all out at 166 runs in 32.2 overs and then couldn’t take the wickets of Sri Lankan Batters.

Zimbabwe vs Sri Lanka Match Summary:

Zimbabwe came to bat first after losing the toss; They lost two wickets in just three overs. Zimbabwe had a bad start, but Seam Williams and Sikandar Raza had a crucial partnership of 69 runs for the 4th wicket.

Sean William scored 56 runs, whereas Sikandar Raza made 31 runs in 51 balls; except for these two batters, no other player has crossed 20+ runs; hence Zimbabwe got all out at 165 runs in 32.2 overs.

From Sri Lanka, Maheesh Theekshan took four wickets, whereas Dilshan Madushanka took three wickets, and Matheesha Pathirana got two wickets.

Sri Lanka came to chase the target of 166 runs, and they successfully chased the target in just 33.1 overs with the loss of one wicket only. Pathum Nissanka has knocked his first century of this tournament and led his team to victory after smashing four on the last ball.

Sri Lanka had a perfect start, and both openers showed good intent and played nice cricket. They made a good partnership of 103 runs, then Dismuth Karunaratne got out by scoring 30 runs in 56b balls, but after him, Kusal Mendis made a partnership with Nissanka and led them into the World Cup 2023.
