The South Africa Cricket Team have made two massive changes to their squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. They have added Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs to the team in place of injured Tony de Zorzi and Donovan Ferreira.
Tony de Zorzi has been out of the action since the T20I series against India. He missed the ODI leg of that tour and was ruled out of the SA20 2025-26. It was expected that he would get fit in time for the T20 World Cup 2026, but that wasn’t the case.
He was ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2026 along with Donovan Ferreira, who got injured in SA20 2025-26. The all-rounder while playing for Joburg Super Kings sustained a serious injury and was deemed unfit to take part in the World Cup.
Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs replace Tony de Zorzi and Donovan Ferreira for the T20 World Cup 2026
In the absence of Tony de Zorzi and Donovan Ferreira, South Africa have added Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs to the side for the T20 World Cup 2026. Both were initially left out of the squad which raised many questions.
However, on the back of their performances in the SA20 2025-26, they were named in the squad. While Rickelton is the leading run-getter in the tournament, Stubbs has led Sunrisers Eastern Cape brilliantly and has taken them to the playoffs.
There are also doubts over David Miller, but South Africa is hopeful that he will be on the plane to India and Sri Lanka.
