Indian cricketers Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan have found themselves in the midst of the red-hot controversy. The duo are all set to be left out of the new BCCI central contracts list as per the reports in the Times of India

Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer came under scrutiny after the duo didn’t take part in the Ranji Trophy 2024. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) clearly mentioned that all the players need to play for their state teams ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

As far as Ishan Kishan is concerned, the batter has been out of action since the South Africa Tests. He pulled out of the series due to mental fatigue and hasn’t been playing anything since then. Even Indian management conveyed to him to play some cricket before making a comeback.

But that wasn’t the case as Ishan Kishan didn’t play any domestic matches but instead has been training with Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya. The batter reportedly has been working on his technique ahead of the IPL 2024.

On the other hand, Shreyas Iyer was part of the Indian squad for the first two Tests against England. The batter then wasn’t named in the team for the last three games and there were reports that he was left out of because of a back issue.

Shreyas Iyer then was asked to play in the Ranji Trophy but he told the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) that he was not available for selection due to back spasms. However, in a drastic turn of events, the report related to his fitness from NCA didn’t suggest anything as he was deemed fit.

Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan are all set to be terminated from the new BCCI’s contract – Reports

Amid all the fuss around Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan, a source close to BCCI told TOI that both the batters will be excluded from the new contract list. It explained:

“The selectors, led by Ajit Agarkar, has almost finalised the list of centrally contracted players for the 2023-24 season too, which the BCCI will announce soon. Kishan and Iyer are likely to be excluded from that list, as both haven’t been playing domestic cricket despite the BCCI’s diktat to do so”

In the central contracts in 2022-23, Ishan Kishan was in C category, earning ₹1 crore whereas Shreyas Iyer was in B, earning ₹3 crore.
