Indian swashbuckling cricketer Shikhar Dhawan has parted ways with Aesha Mukherjee after eight long years of life together. The latter has announced a divorce with an Instagram post on Tuesday.
“Being divorced once before already, felt like I had more at stake the second time around. I had more to prove. So when my second marriage broke down it was really scary,” Aesha Mukherjee wrote on an Instagram post.
Shikhar Dhawan and Aesha got engaged in 2009 and the duo tied the knot in 2012. The two has a 7-year-old son together, Zoravar.
“I THOUGHT DIVORCE WAS A DIRTY WORD UNTIL I BECAME A 2 TIME DIVORCEE. Funny how words can have such powerful meanings and associations. I experienced this first-hand as a divorcee. The first time I went through a divorce I was soooooooo fu@kn scared. I felt like I had failed and I was doing something so wrong at that time. I felt as if I had let everyone down and even felt selfish. I felt that I was letting my parents down, I felt that I was letting my children down and even to some extent I felt as if I was letting God down. Divorce was such a dirty word,” wrote Aesha in a lengthy Instagram post announcing her divorce with a seasoned campaigner for India in cricket.
Aesha hails from Melbourne and is an amateur boxer. She got first hitched with an Australian businessman. Aesha has two daughters from her first marriage. She welcomed her first daughter in the year 2000 and the second daughter was welcomed in 2005. The actual reason for her first divorce is not known.
Shikhar’s ex-wife explained that going through a divorce for the second time was terrifying. She wrote: “So now imagine, I have to go through it a second time. Woooahhhhhh. That is terrifying. Being divorced once before already, felt like I had more at stake the second time around. I had more to prove. So when my second marriage broke down it was really scary.”
The 35-years old Shikhar Dhawan is currently in the UAE practising for the second phase of the IPL 2021. He will play for Delhi Capitals and will hope to continue his scintillating form in the second phase as well.
The opener scored 380 runs in the first eight matches in the Vivo IPL 2021 and is leading the run-getters chart. The southpaw has whacked three half-centuries in eight matches at a strike rate of 134.27.
