Shakib Al Hasan loses his temper twice in one game of Dhaka Premier League, apologises.

Dhaka Premier League (DPL): Senior Bangladesh Cricketer Shakib Al Hasan lashes out at umpire twice during a game in Dhaka Premier League (DPL). The moments that are rarely seen in senior cricket, especially engaging with the umpires, Shakib did that twice in a game on Friday.

On one occasion, Shakib, the captain of Mohammedan Sporting Club, kicked the stumps after the on-field umpire turned down his lbw appeal while on the second occasion, he uprooted the stumps and flung them to ground as umpires called for covers during the sixth over.

The game between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Abahani Limited soon resumed and Shakib’s team won it.

The exact reason why Shakib was angered is still not known. Even at the point when both team’s players walked off, Mohammedan Sporting Club was way ahead of their opponents and even if the DLS rule was applied to it, they would have won the game easily as they were ahead in the equation.

The whole cricket fraternity has censured the act and termed it as a disrespect of Umpires.

Shortly after the game finished, Shakib issued his apology for his poor sportsmanship. In a Facebook post, Shakib wrote: “Dear fans and followers, I am extremely sorry for losing my temper and ruining the match for everyone and especially those who are watching from home,” the message read. “An experienced player like me should not have reacted that way but sometimes against all odds it happens, unfortunately. I apologise to the teams, management, tournament officials and organizing committee for this human error. Hopefully, I won’t be repeating this again in the future. Thanks and love you all.”
