RR vs PBKS: Since the last few editions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the matches between Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings have been the highlight of the tournament. It’s fair to say that the game between the two is the new El-Classico of the IPL as both the teams have produced some extraordinary performances and have won the games from the jaws of defeat. Their games have gone down the wire and have kept everyone on their toes. The two are now slated to lock horns yet again in the IPL 2023 and much like their last few games, it is likely that it’ll be another nail-biter.

RR vs PBKS: Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings have given immense entertainment to the fans. The game between new-age rivals in the last few seasons has been enthralling to watch. The two IPL heavyweights faced each other last time in the IPL 2022 and it was another nail-biter. 

It was the 52nd game of the IPL 2022, which saw Punjab Kings winning the toss and opting to bat. Opener Jonny Bairstow took his team off the flyer as he scored 56 runs in 40 balls and stitched a 47-run partnership with Shikhar Dhawan, who scored 12 runs. After the opening partnership, Bhanuka Rajapaksa played a cameo of 27 runs before skipper Mayank Agarwal chipped in with a 15-run knock. 

Young Jitesh Sharma then took the responsibility of finishing the innings on high as he smashed unbeaten 38 runs in just 18 balls. He was complimented well by Liam Livingstone, who scored 22 runs, as PBKS posted a total of  189 runs on the board. For RR, Yuzvendra Chahal was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped three wickets whereas Prasidh Krishna and R Ashwin bagged one wicket each.

Chasing the target, Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out all guns and gave their team a rollicking start, scoring 46 runs in just 4 overs. While the keeper batter was back in the hut for 30 runs, the young o opener scored 68 runs. Sanju Samson chipped in with a 23-run knock. 

But it was the duo of Devdutt Padikkal and Shimron Hetmyer, who scored 31 runs each and guided their side to win on the second last ball of the game. Arshdeep Singh was the pick of the bowlers for PBKS as he picked 2 wickets and conceded just 29 runs. The game went down the wire but it was the Samson-led outfit, who held their nerves and won the game.
