ENGvsIND: Rohit Sharma slams his first overseas hundred in 4th Test with a big six

Rohit Sharma slams his first overseas hundred in 4th Test with a big six.

ENGvsIND: Team India senior opener Rohit Sharma has successfully managed to slam his first overseas test hundred in the ongoing test match against England. The dashing cricketer continued his sublime form to extend his run of scores to a maiden overseas test ton on the third day of the fourth test match at Oval.

Sharma completed his century with a monstrous six off Moeen Ali in 67th over of the third innings. The cricketer scored 12 fours and tonked a six in 205 delivers to reach his hundred.

Sharma, an established white-ball cricketer, had a fluctuating career in the test format, however, his turning point came when he was asked to open the test innings against South Africa in the home series. He then smacked back to back centuries, including a double century, to seal his spot in the home test.

However, the challenge of the overseas test was still there. The cricketer after a couple of injury issues got to open against Australia and had a few starts, however, none of them got converted into daddy hundreds.

The same goes with the ongoing England series. Rohit Sharma got off to a good start on almost all innings he played, however, failed to convert them. There was some glimmer of hopes when he batted at Lord’s, but with one nip-backer of James Anderson shattered all the hopes.

The Oval test looked a perfect setting for Rohit Sharma to complete his first overseas hundred. The flat surface becomes good to bat and there is not much movement in the air for the bowlers. Taking comprehensive advantage of the favourable conditions, Sharma slammed his hundred in the ongoing Oval test and is still unbeaten at 103 runs.

He was accompanied by his opening partner KL Rahul, with whom Sharma shared an 83 runs solid opening partnership. Rahul fell four short of his half-century as he was dismissed by James Anderson.

Pujara came to give a perfect company to Rohit and both the batters stitched an unbeaten 100 runs partnership at tea on day three of the Oval Test.

India has a lead of 100 runs with Rohit Sharma (103*) and Pujara (48*) at the middle. India will look to extend their lead to over 250 runs before they get bundled out. A long batting unit is due to come after these two batters and a flat surface will make things a lot difficult for the hosts.
