Ireland completed a massive win in the match 22 of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 as they thumped Oman by a huge margin of 96 runs. The game, which took place at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo saw Ireland being asked to bat first and putting highest total of 235 for five in this world cup. Then with the ball, they ended Oman’s innings on 139 and eliminated them from the tournament.

With the way Ireland’s innings started, not many expected them to go big. The Irish Team lost their four wickets for 64 runs as Oman bowlers kept the things tight. However, what unfolded after that was terrific batting display from Ireland. 

Lorcan Tucker (94) led the rescue charge and played a magical innings, taking Oman bowlers to cleaners. Gareth Delany (56) also hit a half-century as the two added 101 runs for fifth wicket. 

In the end, George Dockrell (35*) played a brutal cameo and his 70-run stand with Lorcan Tucker took Ireland to 235 for five.

Oman had a poor start to the chase as captain Jitender Singh and Ashish Odedara fell early. But, Aamir Kaleem (50) and Hammad Mirza (46), steadied the ship, bringing their team back in the game. 

Their 73-run stand for third wicket revived the hopes of Oman fans, but Ireland bowlers were too good. They changed the game within a span of few balls and ended Oman’s innings on 139, winning by 96 runs.

With Ireland winning the game, stand-in captain Lorcan Tucker also shattered a massive record. He went past Rohit Sharma’s tally of 92 runs in the list of highest individual scores by a captain in T20 World Cups.
