Rohit Sharma has successfully completed the BRONCO test, when is Virat Kohli scheduled to take the fitness test? This is ROKO's strategy for the tour to Australia
The pre-season fitness test of the star players of the Indian cricket team was held on the 30th and 31st of August at the BCCI's Center of Excellence (COE) in Bangalore. ODI team captain Rohit Sharma also arrived to give the fitness test. According to the report of news agency PTI, Rohit has passed the fitness test.
Apart from him, Prasidh Krishna, Jasprit Bumrah, Vice-Captain Shubman Gill, Mohammad Siraj, Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shardul Thakur were also present to give the fitness test. All of them passed the test without any problem. The players underwent a Yo-Yo test. Along with this, DXA scan was also done to check the strength of bones. Prasidh Krishna scored the highest marks in the test.
The trio of Gill, Bumrah & wicket-keeper batsman Jitesh Sharma will now leave for Dubai inorder to take part in the 2025 editon of the Asia Cup. Shubman has been named as the vice-captain of the Men in Blue for this forthcoming tournament. It was necessary for the 25-year-old to give a fitness test as he had skipped the Duleep Trophy due to illness. In this tournament, he was made the captain of the North Zone for the quarter-final match.
On the other hand, Sundar & Jaiswal are among the standby players for the Asia Cup. At the same time, Shardul Thakur will now be seen captaining the West Zone in the Duleep Trophy semi-finals, while premier seamer Mohammad Siraj has been rested for the Asia Cup.
Why did these players not give the test?
Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, who are part of the Asia Cup squad, have already played the Duleep Trophy quarter-final, so there was no separate fitness test for them. Riyan Parag has been selected as a standby for the Asia Cup and he too was not tested. Riyan was part of the East Zone team in the quarter-final of the Duleep Trophy. Wicketkeeper batsman Dhruv Jurel had a groin injury, so he did not take part the quarter-final of the domestic league.
Rohit Sharma is currently not playing any matches as he has retired from Test and T20 Internationals. He represented five-time winners Mumbai Indians (MI) in the recently concluded IPL 2025. After that he is away from competitive cricket. However, the good thing is that Rohit has been training for three weeks. The 38-year-old will be seen playing in the ODI series on the Australia tour in October of this year.
Rohit Sharma has passed the fitness test. Now Virat Kohli can also come to Bangalore to give the fitness test in the coming days. Kohli is currently in London and like Rohit Sharma, he is away from competitive cricket since IPL 2025. Recently he has started practicing again in London.
ROKO will be seen playing for India-A.
It is not yet known on which date Virat Kohli will come to COE to give the fitness test. According to multiple Indian media reports, Rohit-Kohli (ROKO) want to take part in the ODI series on behalf of India-A team before the commencement of the Australia tour. India-A will be taking on Australia-A in three One Day International (ODI) matches in Kanpur's Green Park stadium on the 30th of September, 3rd of October and 5th of October. If this is the case then Virat Kohli will definitely come to COE this month and give the fitness test.
