De Kock established himself as one of the finest-ever limited-overs cricketers throughout all phases of his career, from his debut in international cricket in 2012 to his worldwide fame in 2013. 

Due to his batting style, which is full of aggression and sublime conventional technique common for a left-handed batter, he is often referred to as one of the greatest ever limited-overs batsmen of his generation. He retired from test cricket in December 2021.
