PM Narendra Modi to meet the Indian women’s team in Delhi after their ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 win

The Indian Women’s Cricket Team finally ended their title drought as they defeated South Africa in the final to win the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side bagged a 52-run win at the DR DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
India came up with a sensational performance in the entire tournament, more importantly in the knockouts, where they outplayed Australia in the semi-final and then Australia in the final both at the DR DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai.
In the final, India were asked to bat first and they ended up posting 298 runs on the board. Shafali Verma, with 87, and Deepti Sharma, with 58, were the top run-getters for India as they posted close to 300 runs, which was a great confidence booster for them.
Then with the ball, India chipped in with wickets at regular intervals. However, South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt kept her team in the hunt, slamming 101 runs. But her efforts went in vain as Deepti Sharma’s fifer helped India end South Africa’s innings on 246 and win the game by 52 runs.
Indian women received a lot of praise from fans and experts all around the globe. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the Harmanpreet Kaur-led side, saying that:

The team showed exceptional teamwork and tenacity throughout the tournament. Congratulations to our players. Not only this, PM Narendra Modi has invited the Indian women’s cricket team to meet in New Delhi. As per the reports in India Today, it is learned that the Indian team will travel to the national capital on Wednesday, November 5, to meet with the Prime Minister. The PM also met the Indian men’s team after they won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
