Pakistani skipper’s 82 runs important knock lead the side to a comfortable win against Zimbabwe in the 1st Twenty20 International at Rawalpindi. The match was played at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi on Saturday, 07th November. Zimbabwe batting first put the total of 156-6 in 20 overs, featuring Madhevere’s unbeaten 70 from 48 balls. Pakistan in response to Zimbabwe scored 157 runs with 7 balls to spare.

Zimbabwe:

Earlier, toss favoured Zimbabwe in the 1st T20I, Zimbabwe decided to bat first. Mohd. Husnain pulled Zimbabwe’s skipper, Chibhabha for a duck in the very first over. Brendan Taylor and Sean Williams took the visitors past 30 runs in 4 overs. Brendan Taylor was picked by Haris Rauf in the 5th over. 

Madhevere unbeaten 70 took Zimbabwe to 156 runs total in 20 overs. Madhevere looked in control and was a delight to watch. Sean Williams added 25 runs while some hard-hitting from Chigumbura, scoring 21 from 13 balls which includes 2 boundaries and a six.

For Pakistan Haris Rauf and Riaz picked two wickets each, while Mohd. Husnain and Usman Qadir took one wicket each.

Pakistan:

In pursuit of 156 runs in 20 overs, Pakistan had a decent opening partnership of 36 runs with Fakhar Zaman and skipper Babar Azam. Blessing Muzarabani picked Fakhar Zaman in 4th over.

Babar Azam played the match-winning knock for Pakistan, scoring 82 runs from 55 balls including 9 fours and a six, proved why he is the most elegant white-ball batsmen in modern cricket. Mohd. Hafeez contributed 36 from 32 balls to reach a total of 156. Pakistan reached the total in 18.5 overs, making the good chase comfortable.

For Zimbabwe, Blessing Muzarabani took 2 wickets while Tendai Chatara and Richard Ngarava picked one each.

With this win, Pakistan took 1-0 lead against Zimbabwe in three-match T20I series. This is also 12th straight win for Pakistan over Zimbabwe in all Twenty20 international cricket.
